Business, government and civil society either 'walk apart' or 'walk behind' in their efforts to advance South Africa.

The Challenge

Sibanye-Stillwater's Renewal Programme is a work-in-progress conversation, showing what reimagining looks like through a business's relationship with their community.  It's focus is the co-creation of alternative means of socio-economic development independent from mining.

What we did

In June 2023 ReimagineSA convened the second Pitso, with communities where Sibanye-Stillwater operates. We gathered a coalition of willing stakeholders from across sectors to share ideas and solutions toward socio-economic development.  

 

Next Steps

Having established trust with community representatives, we are now able to take the next step in the process based on this foundation to hold dialogues with the members of the communities themselves.To listen, and work together to bridge newfound insights with practical policy outcomes.
